A computer helps in communication in many ways. We can use email to send messages quickly. We can chat with friends using social media. We can make video calls using apps like Zoom or Skype. Computers also help us to create and share documents, pictures, and videos easily with people around the world.

2. What are information and communication?

Information is data or knowledge shared with others. Communication is the process of sending and receiving information between people. Communication helps to understand and share ideas, feelings, and facts with each other.

3. Mention different types of communication.

  • Verbal communication: Using spoken or written words.
  • Nonverbal communication: Using body language, facial expressions, gestures.
  • Visual communication: Using pictures, symbols, graphs.

1. Write any two similarities and differences between human brain and computer memory.

Similarities:

  • Both store information.
  • Both can process and recall information when needed.

Differences:

  • Human brain can think and feel, but computer memory cannot.
  • Human brain has unlimited storage, but computer memory has limited capacity.

2. Write the use of:

(a) HDD (Hard Disk Drive)

Used to store data and files permanently in a computer.

(b) RAM (Random Access Memory)

Used to store data temporarily while the computer is working; it makes the computer fast.

(c) SSD (Solid State Drive)

Used to store data permanently like HDD but works faster and is more reliable.

(d) ROM (Read Only Memory)

Used to store permanent instructions needed to start the computer (booting).

A computer has mainly four parts:

1.    Input devices — Used to enter data into the computer.
Examples: Keyboard, mouse, scanner.

2.    Output devices — Used to show the result or output.
Examples: Monitor, printer, speakers.

3.    System unit — The main part that processes data. It contains CPU, motherboard, hard disk, RAM, etc.

4.    Storage devices — Used to store data and files.
Examples: Hard disk, SSD, pen drive, CD.


2. What is the difference between hardware and software?

Hardware is the physical part of a computer which we can see and touch.
Examples: keyboard, mouse, monitor, CPU.

Software is a set of instructions or programs that run on the computer. We cannot touch software.
Examples: MS Word, Windows, games.


3. Compare the working process of human and computer.

Human

Computer

Can think, feel, and make decisions on their own.

Works only as per given instructions.

Brain is used to control and process information.

CPU is used to process data and control.

Memory is unlimited and can learn new things.

Memory is limited and cannot learn by itself.

Can do many activities at the same time but slower.

Can do tasks very fast but needs instructions.

  • Arrow keys – to move the cursor

2. What is word processor? Write the different steps for opening the word processor.

Answer:
A word processor is a software used to type and edit documents.

Steps to open a word processor (MS Word):

1.    Click on the Start button.

2.    Go to All Programs or Search bar.

3.    Find and click on Microsoft Word.

4.    The word processor will open.


3. Draw a figure of an elephant or any animal you like. Then paint with appropriate color.

➡️ (For this question, you need to draw it yourself in your notebook or copy. You can draw any animal like elephant, cat, dog, fish, etc. and color it using crayons or color pencils.)
